The Joseph Kennedy, S.J., papers consist of miscellaneous correspondence received by Fr. Kennedy; a group of letters to him concerning Covenant House in New York City; some notes by him on Susan Decatur, together with a photocopy of her will; copies of Fr. Kennedy's resumeĢ and his birth certificate; photographs of Fr. Kennedy and his friends; and miscellaneous printed matter, some of it relating to Fr. Kennedy's work at Georgetown University. Also included are a typed manuscript of 'The long and involved claim of Susan Decatur' by Dennis G. Terez, and vol. 1, no. 1 (Dec. 1872) of the 'Georgetown College journal'.

Father Joseph E. Kennedy, S.J., was born in Pawtucket, R.I., on April 18, 1912. He was educated at Gonzaga College High School, Washington, D.C., Georgetown University (M.A. 1939) and Columbia University. He entered the Society of Jesus in 1930, studied theology at Woodstock College, Woodstock, Md., and was ordained to the priesthood on June 20, 1943. During 1950-55 Fr. Kennedy taught history at St. Joseph's College, Philadelphia, Pa., and during 1955-74 at Wheeling College in Wheeling, W. Va. F...
